No further comment on the skills (commented already on the other thread). They are aimed to please their audience (kids) not hardcore/veteran players so the less QQ the better...
Yay for bug fixes.
Yay for a new mask (although I will never buy it cause I dont have a ranger). Its free, so you cant complain "its late!" or "omGz suxors".
Also note, they do not HAVE to waste their time changing game mechanics such as seperate skills for different areas. They have your money, so they can do what other game companies (mention no names *cough* EA *endcough*) a run with your money to make another random game. None of these changes are game breaking as PvE has never been hard unless your new to RPGs.

Wow dude, it was the first freaking paragraph.

With this week’s update we will introduce a new system to split certain skills into separate PvE and PvP versions. With this system we can update skills for one game type without affecting the other. To prepare players for the changes, we have decided to post this Dev Update as a preview. The skill changes will go live on May 22.

Good riddance.
I shan't think any PvPers will mourn its loss.
Indeed, I shan't think any PvPers would mourn if Paragons were removed entirely.

It was nerfed because of GvG. It's likely it hasn't been restored in PvE because of builds like that. It's still powerful. Incidentally, Splinter Weapon is still much stronger than when it was first introduced in Factions.

What's cooler than making us able to spam *every* skill we want in PvE?

Didn't you hear? Anet plans on slowly introducing imbalanced stuff like that to keep PvE'ers interested. If they gave you everything at once people would have fun and leave, but this way they will just lead you on with constantly more powerful PvE skills up until Grind Wars 2.

Disappointing.

i think when they said "preview" they were referring to that they were giving us a preview of what their new system of skills balances will consist of from now on, so they showed us todays update before hand so we get an idea of what their new system would be like.

I don't think overpowered stuff keeps people interested. It just gets them bored quicker.
There's obviously a demographic that does like it, but then again, how many people are working on second or third GWAMM?
Just like PvP crowd isn't representative for what PvE should be like, the hard-core farming community isn't either.
That said, what was introduced since Factions that didn't involve thousands of hours of grind? That is the GW2 target demographic.

whoops. looks like perma-shadow form.
deadly paradox + glyph of swiftness combine up to 50% recharge reduction.
so, with 15 in shadow arts, you'd have 30 seconds + 5 seconds from 20% enchant mod. that's 35 seconds up, and 30 seconds recharge. glyph of swiftness is 1 second cast and paradox is instant, so it truly is perma-shadow form even with zero deadly arts and air magic.
[Shadow [email protected]][Deadly Paradox][Glyph of Swiftness]
this costs 30 energy to setup and you can't use attack skills for 10 seconds. so, using a zealous pair of daggers, you'd easily regain this energy by auto-attacking for 10 seconds under an IAS with high dagger mastery for double-strikes. that leaves 20 seconds to execute a dagger chain or two or three before prepping to renew shadow form before it expires.

The temple of balthazar needs to be a pvp zone to avoid confusion with setting builds there and testing outside.

Just for completeness, this won't work with an attrib of 12 or less (E/A). @ 12 it should last 25 seconds (haven't checked but assumed it was linear), which would give you exactly 30 seconds with the enchant mod. But add in the cast time and you won't be able to renew it before it ends

Pretty damn lame...... I hope splinter weapon is turned back cause that rit barrage farm was awesome... I fail to see how its bad as they have buffed SF HUGELY
If you say splinter was nerfed from the few solo farms it had you're a dumbass.
